Lab created stones can be excellent to work with because there is a great deal of attraction in being able to guarantee that the gem’s form will be exactly what you need, in terms of its clarity and appearance. That’s particularly true of rubies, which are notoriously rich and beautiful in their colours, and having that control allows you to create a truly special piece.
I chose to create a tension ring for this stone because it allows me to show off all of the great qualities this lab created ruby has, thanks to its unique construction. The tension ring style puts all of the stress on the setting rather than the band, which also allows the stone to be displayed prominently above the band so that it catches the light as much as possible, showing off the gem’s amazing colours.
The band is Sterling Silver, which is a high quality metal that also shows off the whole piece.
